Gender-based violence (GBV) victims in Nkurenkuru, Kavango West, will now have better support thanks to a donation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The organization provided household items worth N$22,000 to the Namibian Police’s GBV unit.
The donation includes a fridge, stove, microwave, dining table with chairs, and cooking utensils. These will be used in shelters where victims receive care and protection.
Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, welcomed the support and assured that the items would be properly managed and recorded to prevent any misuse.
She explained that, before this donation, shelters struggled because they lacked cooking equipment, forcing the police to buy pre-cooked food for victims.
This contribution will make it easier to provide fresh meals and improve conditions for those seeking help.
