Residents of Kehemu location in Rundu were left in shock on Monday evening after a parked vehicle suddenly burst into flames under mysterious circumstances.
The incident occurred around 20h00 near Shamuningi Shebeen, close to Kehemu Primary School in the Kavango East Region. According to eyewitness accounts, the Toyota Corolla was unoccupied and stationary at the time of the explosion.
“I just heard a loud bang and when I came outside, the car was already on fire,” said one resident, who lives nearby.
Emergency services were not immediately on the scene, but community members managed to keep the fire from spreading to nearby properties. No injuries have been reported, and the driver of the vehicle was unharmed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
