Concerns over illegal fencing in Sivaradi 1 village have intensified, with community members accusing traditional leaders of neglecting their responsibility to address the matter.
During a land-use engagement held on Tuesday by the land reform division, villagers expressed frustration, claiming that their leaders not only ignored repeated complaints but were also complicit in allowing such fences to be erected.
Residents reported that at least 10 illegal fences have already been established in the area, restricting access to vital natural resources.
Sivaradi 1 falls under the jurisdiction of the Mbunza Traditional Authority in the Kavango West region, where the issue of illegal fencing continues to spark disputes over land rights and usage.
