Namibian music is reaching new heights, with more artists achieving milestones on YouTube. The latest to make history is Lioness, whose music video “Omapiyano” has become the fastest Namibian music video to reach 1 million views, achieving the feat in just 10 days. This breaks the previous record held by Miss Gideon for her song “Home,” which featured Gazza.
“Omapiyano” features Namibian music heavyweights Gazza and Willy G, contributing to its rapid success. However, not everyone is convinced that the numbers are authentic. Namibian artist EES took to social media to question the legitimacy of the views, posting:
“EISH!! …when will the fake views on Namibian music videos stop???🤪”

EES pointed out the disparity in engagement, referring to the approximately 2.7k likes and 202 comments of the video at the time of his post. One of his followers commented:
“I wanted you to be wrong… But eish, the analytics don’t add up… a 0.008% like-to-view ratio.”
EES responded: “Analytics don’t lie, they are not making sense at all. I have been in the YouTube game for a long time.”
However, the post was deleted around 23h00 after receiving backlash from fans who supported Lioness’ achievement.
Despite the controversy, “Omapiyano” continues to gain traction, proving that Namibian artists are making significant strides in the digital era.
