
A 32-year-old Namibian man was arrested on Friday night, 26 September 2025, after allegedly causing a fatal accident while driving under the influence of alcohol at Omahenene location, between Omungwelume and Oshakati.
According to police reports, the suspect was behind the wheel of a white Ford Drift when he struck 35-year-old Penehafo Hainghumbi, who was seated on the roadside. The impact killed her instantly. The driver fled the scene without assisting the victim but was later apprehended.
Investigations revealed that he had no valid driver’s licence at the time of the crash. He is expected to appear before the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 September 2025, facing charges of culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run, and driving without a licence.
Police have informed the deceased’s next of kin and confirmed that further investigations are underway.
