To ease financial pressure, a young family made a surprising decision, living under one roof with a woman, her current husband, and her ex-husband all together.

Megan Meyer, 25, now lives in the same house with her husband Michael, her ex-husband Tyler, and their two children. The arrangement, though unconventional, is working well for them.

Megan was married to Tyler, a 25-year-old police officer, for nearly four years. They share a three-year-old daughter. After separating in late 2023, Megan reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Michael, also 25, and soon became pregnant with his child.

The three adults originally lived in separate apartments on the East Coast to co-parent more easily, but high rent costs pushed them to consider something new, moving in together.

Megan, a stay-at-home mom, explained how the idea came about: “At first, I thought it was crazy. My current husband had brought it up, but I didn’t take it seriously. Then one day, while dropping my daughter off at Tyler’s place, I asked if he’d consider it and he agreed.”

Now, the group lives together in one house, with Megan and Michael in the upstairs bedroom and Tyler staying in the garage. Megan describes the atmosphere as surprisingly smooth, saying it’s no different from living with regular roommates.

Tyler said he enjoys having more time with his daughter and appreciates the peaceful dynamic. “We argue sometimes over what to watch on TV, but there’s no real tension,” he said. “It’s good for the kids to see we can all get along.”

Michael, who didn’t grow up with both parents, said he’s happy to give his children a different experience. “It might look strange to others, but it works for us. I love my wife deeply, and I trust her and Tyler completely.”

Despite the unusual setup, the three adults say their main goal is to provide a stable and loving home for their children and so far, it seems to be working.
