Young Africans FC secured their place in the final of the inaugural MTC Maris Cup with a dominant 3-1 victory over UNAM FC at the Mariental Stadium.
The team started strong, with Himeezembi Kahee opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Their new South African midfielder, Calane, doubled the lead in the 55th minute, before Denzel Narib added a third just four minutes later. UNAM FC managed to pull one back through Roberto Rugam in the 63rd minute, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
Young African captain Ngaitone Kaindjee praised his team’s efforts, stating that they are working hard and looking forward to more victories. The team now has its eyes set on the 1.5 million Namibian dollar grand prize, should they emerge victorious in the final.
Young Africans remain the only unbeaten team this season across all competitions, further cementing their reputation as strong title contenders.
The club now eagerly awaits the outcome of the African Stars vs. Bucks Buccaneers clash, which will determine their final opponent.
