Police in Otjiwarongo made a significant drug bust on Friday evening, seizing cannabis valued at nearly N$38,000 during a targeted operation in the Orwetoveni residential area.
The operation, which took place around 18:00, led to the arrest of a 22-year-old male learner from Karundu Secondary School. According to the Namibian Police, officers acted on a tip-off and searched a house where they discovered three parcels of skunk — a highly potent form of cannabis — weighing a total of 756 grams.
The young suspect, a Namibian national, now faces charges for dealing in and possessing cannabis under the Abuse of Dependence-Producing Substances Act.
He is set to appear before the court on Monday.
The arrest has drawn attention to the growing issue of drug abuse and trafficking in the Otjiwarongo area, especially among the youth.
