Young Man Dies in Tragic Accident at Nkurenkuru Expo 2025

A festive atmosphere turned tragic early Saturday morning after a 29-year-old man lost his life in a fatal accident during the ongoing Nkurenkuru Expo 2025.

The deceased, identified by police as Gideon Hausiku Tenga, reportedly sustained fatal injuries after falling onto a sharp metal object at the expo grounds. The incident occurred at around 01h49 in the early hours of Saturday.

Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident to the media, stating that police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene after being alerted about the accident.

“It is indeed a very unfortunate incident. The victim allegedly fell onto a metal object at the venue and died from the injuries sustained. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident,” Muronga stated.

According to eyewitnesses, Tenga had been attending the popular expo, which draws hundreds of visitors from across the region for exhibitions, entertainment, and social gatherings.

Paramedics and police officers responded swiftly but were unable to save him. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police have opened an inquest docket as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the Nkurenkuru Expo organizers expressed shock and extended condolences to Tenga’s family.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.

Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
