A somber discovery was made on Thursday morning when the lifeless body of a 20-year-old woman was found at Independence Beach in Kuisebmond, behind the Naval Base.
According to Erongo police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula, the incident was reported at approximately 11:20 after a construction company employee working near the beach stumbled upon the body.
The deceased, identified as Rauna Shangelao Ihula, was transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital where medical staff confirmed her death. Her remains were later transferred to the Police Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have since opened Inquest Case No. 04/2025. The circumstances leading to Ihula’s death remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm while the investigation continues and have encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
