Namibia’s upcoming regional and local authority elections on 26 November 2025 are set to see strong participation from young voters, according to the final voters register. Out of 1 499 449 registered voters, 643 117 are aged between 18 and 35, highlighting the growing influence of youth in shaping the country’s political landscape.
Women account for 808 419 of all registered voters, while men make up 691 080, showing a balanced overall representation alongside the significant youth presence. The register also includes 22 245 persons with disabilities, reflecting efforts to make elections inclusive for all Namibians.
The supplementary voter registration, held from 4 to 19 August 2025, employed the Electoral Commission of Namibia’s (ECN) automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) to prevent duplicate entries and ensure accuracy.
Special voting for polling officials and police officers working outside their constituencies will take place on 24 November, two days before the main polling day. The elections will determine leadership in 121 constituencies and 59 local authority councils across the country.
Civil society groups and electoral authorities have urged political parties and organisations to focus voter education campaigns on youth, highlighting their critical role in democracy. Analysts predict that the active engagement of young voters could significantly influence election outcomes, emphasizing the importance of informed participation ahead of polling day.
