Mbappe Brace Powers France Past Senegal

France secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Senegal in their FIFA World Cup Group I encounter, with captain Kylian Mbappe delivering a match-winning performance by scoring twice, including a stoppage-time goal that sealed the result.
After a tightly contested first half, France finally broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Michael Olise set up Mbappe, who calmly found the back of the net to give Les Bleus a deserved lead.
Senegal responded with a series of attacking changes as head coach sought fresh energy from the bench. However, France strengthened their grip on the match in the 82nd minute when Bradley Barcola finished off an assist from Adrien Rabiot to double the advantage and put the European giants in control.
The African side refused to give up and pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time. Substitute Ibrahim Mbaye reduced the deficit in the 90+5th minute after being set up by Iliman Ndiaye, giving Senegal a late glimmer of hope.
Any hopes of a dramatic comeback were quickly extinguished just a minute later when Mbappe struck again in the 90+6th minute. The French superstar capitalised on Senegal’s push forward and completed his brace to restore France’s two-goal cushion.
The victory gives France an important three points in Group I and underlines their status as one of the tournament favourites. Mbappe’s decisive contribution once again highlighted his importance to Didier Deschamps’ side, while Barcola’s impact off the bench added further attacking depth.
Despite the defeat, Senegal showed resilience and determination, particularly in the closing stages, but ultimately struggled to contain France’s attacking quality when it mattered most.
