UNAM FC and African Stars FC Guaranteed Around N$1.8 Million each Even if Eliminated in CAF Preliminary Rounds

African Stars FC and UNAM FC will discover their first opponents on Thursday as they begin their quest for a place in the group stages of Africa’s premier club competitions.
The preliminary round draws for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
African Stars FC will represent Namibia in the CAF Champions League, while NFA Cup winners UNAM FC will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

CAF has also confirmed the prize money for the 2026/27 season. The winners of the CAF Champions League will receive USD 6 million (approximately N$108 million), while the CAF Confederation Cup champions will earn USD 4 million (approximately N$72 million).
CAF has also confirmed that each team eliminated in the preliminary round will receive USD 100,000.
This means even if African Stars or UNAM FC are eliminated in the preliminary rounds, each club will receive a solidarity payment of USD 100,000 (approximately N$1.8 million) as part of CAF’s continued investment in supporting participating clubs and strengthening its interclub competitions.
