France Dominate Sweden as Mexico Cruise Past Ecuador to Advance in the round of 16

France set the tone early in the knockout stage with a calm and dominant display, brushing aside Sweden in a 3–0 victory that felt controlled from start to finish. The French side looked sharp in every department, moving the ball with confidence and rarely allowing Sweden to settle into any rhythm. Kylian Mbappé was once again the difference-maker, scoring twice and constantly stretching the Swedish defence with his pace and movement. Sweden had moments where they tried to push forward, but they were largely contained by a disciplined French backline.
Mexico followed that same script of control and efficiency in their clash against Ecuador, securing a solid 2–0 win. Rather than chasing the game with high pressure, Mexico stayed organised and patient, waiting for the right openings. When those chances came, they were taken with composure, giving them full control of the match. Ecuador tried to respond, especially after falling behind, but struggled to break through a compact Mexican setup that managed the game well until the final whistle.
Both France and Mexico now move forward with growing confidence, having shown that in knockout football, discipline and timing often matter just as much as attacking flair.
