Brentford stun Tottenham in their Premier League opener

Brentford got their 2026/27 Premier League campaign off to a perfect start after beating Tottenham Hotspur 3–0 in a convincing performance.
The home side quickly put Tottenham under pressure and were rewarded with the opening goal through Keane Lewis-Potter. Brentford continued to look the more dangerous team and extended their advantage before half-time through Vitaly Janelt.
Tottenham struggled to create a consistent attacking threat and found themselves chasing the game for long periods. Despite their efforts to respond after the break, Brentford remained in control.
The hosts added a third goal through Michael Kayode shortly after the restart, effectively putting the result beyond Tottenham’s reach.

The defeat will be a disappointing beginning for Tottenham and new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, particularly with expectations high following the club’s summer activity.
For Brentford, however, the result provides an early boost and sends a clear message that they could be difficult opponents this season. Their intensity, organisation and ability to take their chances proved decisive on the opening weekend.
