According to Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga of the Namibian Police Force, the driver of the GD6 attempted to avoid animals on the road when the accident took place.

This accident follows an incident on October 23, approximately 55 km from Rundu, where a minibus overturned while transporting members of the Evangelical Bible Church (EBC) on their way to a women’s church conference in Nkurenkuru. Thirteen people, including one minor, were rushed to Bunya Clinic, and eight were later transferred to Rundu Intermediate Hospital, with four in critical condition.

Authorities at the scene attributed the accident to a rear tire burst and confirmed that the bus was overloaded.

Earlier in the month, a tragic accident on October 19 in Nambi claimed the lives of three people, marking the first of the three incidents.
