The Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC) has given the green light for Pepkor to buy Big Daddy Clothing and OK Furniture through JD Financial Services. This means Pepkor is now allowed to take over these two businesses.
The deals were approved with some conditions to make sure there is still fair competition in the market. This was shared by Dina //Gowases, who works as the Corporate Communications Practitioner at NaCC.
What is NaCC?
The Namibian Competition Commission, or NaCC, is a government body that checks business deals to make sure no company becomes too powerful. Its job is to protect customers and ensure all businesses get a fair chance to compete.
Before any big business deal can go through, companies must ask NaCC for permission. If NaCC thinks the deal might harm competition or lead to higher prices for consumers, it can stop the deal or allow it with conditions.

Pepkor Stores in Namibia
Pepkor already owns 16 stores in Namibia under its home and tech brands. These include popular shops like Sleepmasters, HiFi Corp, and Incredible Connection.
With the new approval, Pepkor will now have a total of 37 furniture shops across the country. This means it will become one of the largest furniture retailers in Namibia.
NaCC will continue to monitor the situation to make sure the market stays fair for everyone.
