Davido Opens Up About the Dark Side of Fame

Davido Opens Up About the Dark Side of Fame: The Impact on His Loved Ones

Davido speak out

Fame is a double-edged sword that can bring both joy and turmoil. In a recent episode of the ABtalks podcast, renowned Afrobeat singer Davido, born David Adeleke, candidly shared his experiences and shed light on the negative repercussions his fame has had on his loved ones. While fame has its perks, it also carries a heavy burden that affects the private lives of celebrities and their families. In this blog post, we delve into Davido’s revelations about the detrimental impact of fame on his family, highlighting the complex nature of stardom.

Davido acknowledged that fame has its allure and acknowledged that he enjoys the privileges it brings. The glitz, glamour, and material possessions are undeniably enticing. However, he went on to emphasize that the celebrity status comes with a cost that often goes unnoticed by the public eye. The toll it takes on his personal life and, more distressingly, on the lives of his loved ones is significant.
One of the distressing aspects of fame that Davido shared was how his daughter became a target of bullying at school simply because of her association with him. This painful revelation sheds light on the harsh reality faced by children of celebrities. Davido’s daughter experienced mistreatment from her peers due to the fame of her father, highlighting the unfortunate consequences of being a public figure’s child.
“I would lie to you if I say I don’t like fame but it has its good and bad parts, I get anything I want but it gets stressful because it affects the private aspect of my life and my family.
My daughter was even getting bullied in school because she was my daughter. So fame has good sides but also bad sides” said Davido.
Furthermore, Davido’s sister faced a similar ordeal. She had to make the difficult decision to move her children to different schools because they were subjected to unfair treatment as a result of their relationship with the famous singer.

“My sister had to move her kids out of school because they knew the kids were my nieces/nephews, and it was weird because of how people treated them, so now they are in different schools, and when they know they are related to me it is always crazy” said the singer

It is disheartening to learn how the actions and choices of public figures can inadvertently disrupt the lives of their family members, forcing them to make challenging adjustments to protect their well-being.
