A somber mood has fallen over the Kaap en Bou area of Omulunga following the death of a 39-year-old man who is believed to have taken his own life early Sunday morning.
According to Namibian Police spokespersons, the deceased has been identified as Dauma Goraseb. He was reportedly discovered by family members in his room, where he had allegedly hanged himself with a rope. A note believed to be a suicide message was also recovered at the scene.
Emergency services were called immediately, and Mr. Goraseb’s body was transported to Grootfontein State Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death. Police say his next of kin have been informed, and an investigation has been opened to complete the inquest.
Authorities have once again urged members of the public to take mental health concerns seriously and to reach out for help when in crisis. Free and confidential support is available through hotlines such as 116 or 106, which operate 24 hours a day.
