According to sources, the incident occurred when one of the large pots tipped over, spilling hot contents onto the workers. Both sustained burn injuries and were treated at the hospital.
Staff have alleged that the hospital’s kitchen equipment has been in disrepair for years, with most pots either broken or unstable and no proper maintenance carried out. “The pots are old and unsafe. We have been complaining for a long time, but nothing has been done,” a worker who asked not to be named said.
The incident has sparked outrage among employees, who fear that without urgent intervention, more injuries could occur. Calls are mounting for the Ministry of Health and Social Services to replace the aging equipment and improve working conditions in the hospital’s kitchen.
At the time of going to press, no official comment had been issued by the ministry regarding the incident.
