The Namibian National Students Organisation (NANSO) in the Kavango West Region has voiced serious concern following an incident at Katji Nakatji that left ten learners injured.
Regional chairperson Haiyambo Jakko said the student body is “deeply disturbed” by the incident, calling it a painful reminder of the urgent need to safeguard learners both within and outside school premises.
“NANSO is not only saddened but also disappointed that such punishment continue to happen. We have launched our own investigation and will forward our findings to the Regional Directorate of Education once the review is complete,” Jakko said.
He stressed that the organisation remains committed to advocating for learner welfare, adding that NANSO will continue engaging with education authorities and community stakeholders to prevent future incidents.
The accident has reignited public debate about the safety and transportation of school-going children in rural areas, with many urging for stricter safety measures and improved monitoring systems for learner transport.
