Thirteen ambulances belonging to the Ministry of Health and Social Services have been fully restored to operational condition after receiving free mechanical repairs from the Pupkewitz Foundation.
The initiative, valued at nearly N$400,000, aimed to strengthen the ministry’s emergency response capacity and ensure safe, reliable transport for patients nationwide.
During inspection, the Foundation’s technical team discovered various faults, with some ambulances requiring major and urgent repairs. Key components repaired or replaced included:
- Clutches on four ambulances to prevent sudden breakdowns.
- Wheel bearings and starters to ensure consistent engine performance.
- Steering racks and power steering systems for better handling during emergencies.
- Batteries, bulbs, and lights to guarantee clear visibility in all conditions.
- Shock absorbers for enhanced stability and passenger comfort.
- Knuckle seals to prevent oil leaks that could lead to bearing damage.
In addition, all vehicles received complete servicing including engine oil and filter changes, and new brake pads where needed to ensure safe operation. Each ambulance was also equipped with a full emergency tool kit, replacing the incomplete sets found during inspection.

The Pupkewitz Foundation expressed pride in supporting public health services, stating that the ambulances are now in safe, reliable, and roadworthy condition, ready to respond to emergencies.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services commended the Foundation’s technical team for their professionalism and commitment, noting that the repairs will significantly enhance the ministry’s ability to deliver timely and effective medical care.
