The Erongo Police are investigating the death of 36-year-old security officer Patrick Nestor, who was found dead at his residence in Swakopmund’s DRC Seaside location late Friday evening.
Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at approximately 22:25. Nestor allegedly ended his life by hanging shortly after a domestic altercation with his girlfriend.
According to police reports, the confrontation began when Nestor allegedly assaulted his girlfriend by striking her in the face. She sought refuge at his aunt’s home, but the conflict escalated when he reportedly followed her, seized their 11-month-old child, and struck the baby’s head against a table before smashing their cellphones. The girlfriend avoided further confrontation and later returned to find him dead.
The body was transported to Swakopmund State Hospital, where death was certified. Police say Nestor’s next of kin have been informed, while the condition of the child remains undisclosed.
Authorities have emphasized that investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances of this tragic case.
