The Government of has Namibia strengthened its commitment to sporting excellence through the implementation of the Namibia National Sport Reward Policy, a structured incentive framework designed to recognise outstanding performances at major international competitions.

The policy ensures that athletes representing the country at events such as the Commonwealth Games and the African Games are financially rewarded for their achievements, alongside their coaches who play a vital role in preparing them for elite competition.

For individual sports, athletes who secure podium finishes will receive the following rewards:

1. Gold medal: N$80,000 (Athlete) and N$35,000 (Coach)

2. Silver medal: N$60,000 (Athlete) and N$25,000 (Coach)

3. Bronze medal: N$40,000 (Athlete) and N$15,000 (Coach)

In team sports, the incentives are significantly higher to reflect collective performance:

1. Gold medal: N$500,000 (Team) and N$150,000 (Coach)

2. Silver medal: N$300,000 (Team) and N$100,000 (Coach)

3. Bronze medal: N$200,000 (Team) and N$80,000 (Coach)

The policy is aimed at motivating athletes to perform at the highest level while also acknowledging the importance of coaching staff in achieving international success. It forms part of broader efforts to elevate Namibia’s competitiveness in continental and global sporting arenas, including the African Games.
