NFA Has Until Tomorrow to Respond or Face Possible Suspension

The Namibia Sports Commission has issued a final warning to the Namibia Football Association, warning that failure to respond to its repeated correspondence by tomorrow will result in decisive action.
The Commission confirmed that this is now its third attempt to engage the NFA on the matter, following earlier letters sent on 20 January and 15 March, both of which reportedly received no response. In its latest communication, the regulator made it clear that continued silence will leave it with no option but to enforce compliance measures.
Citing its legal mandate, the Commission warned that under Section 28, it is empowered to take enforcement steps against non-compliant national sports bodies. These measures could include the suspension or withdrawal of the NFA’s recognition, a move that would have serious implications for football administration in Namibia.
At the heart of the dispute is the continued inclusion of Mr. Lourence Kandundu within the NFA leadership structure. Kandundu is understood to also serve as a local authority councillor, a situation the Commission believes is in direct conflict with national legislation.
In a formal letter dated 15 May 2026 and addressed to Acting Secretary General Mambo Vries, the Commission highlighted concerns that the current executive composition of the association contravenes provisions of the Sport Act of 2003 (Act No. 12 of 2003).
Specifically, Section 25 of the Act restricts individuals from holding executive roles in national sports federations while simultaneously occupying elected political office at national, regional, or local level.
With the deadline now imminent, attention turns to whether the NFA will respond in time or risk facing regulatory action from the country’s sports governing authority.
