Namibia’s Rebekka Goagoses has reached a significant milestone in global sport governance after officially becoming a full member of the World Netball Board, marking a major step forward for African representation in international netball leadership.

Her elevation follows the completion of a transitional period that began in April 2025, during which she played a key leadership role within Africa Netball’s executive structures. The appointment was unanimously endorsed by the Africa Netball Executive Board, confirming strong continental backing for her continued rise in the sport’s administration.

Goagoses is widely recognised as one of Africa’s influential netball administrators. In addition to her former role as President of Netball Namibia, she has also served in key leadership positions within Africa Netball, including Vice President for Development. In April 2025, she was appointed Acting President of Africa Netball during a period of organisational transition, tasked with ensuring stability and continuity in continental governance.

Her latest appointment to the World Netball Board strengthens Africa’s voice at the highest level of the sport, where strategic decisions on global competitions, development programmes, and governance structures are made. World Netball, the sport’s global governing body, oversees membership across more than 50 African nations within its Africa region, which includes established netball nations such as South Africa, Malawi, Uganda, and Namibia.

Goagoses’ rise is being viewed as a continuation of Namibia’s growing influence in international netball administration, reflecting broader efforts to strengthen governance and leadership representation from emerging netball nations.

Her appointment is expected to contribute to ongoing reforms and development initiatives aimed at expanding the global reach of netball, particularly across Africa, where the sport continues to grow rapidly in participation and competitiveness.
