UNAM FC Crowned 2026 NFA Cup Champions After Dramatic Late Victory Over KK Palace FC

UNAM FC were crowned the 2026 NFA Cup champions after edging KK Palace FC 2-1 in a thrilling final at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday, securing the prestigious trophy and a winners’ prize of N$400,000.
The final got off to a dream start for KK Palace FC, with Nchimunya Chindima finding the back of the net just two minutes into the match to hand the Onamungundo Lions an early advantage.
UNAM FC responded positively and restored parity in the 19th minute when Veico Kandjovu calmly slotted home to make it 1-1, ensuring the sides went into the break level.
With extra time looming, UNAM head coach introduced Roberto Ruham in the 80th minute, and the substitute proved to be the difference-maker. Ruham struck deep into stoppage time in the 95th minute to complete a dramatic comeback and seal the NFA Cup title for the Clever Boys.
As champions, UNAM FC walked away with the trophy, gold medals and N$400,000 in prize money, while runners-up KK Palace FC received silver medals and N$200,000.

Earlier in the day, Okahandja United FC secured third place after defeating Mighty Gunners FC 10-9 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regulation time. The victory earned Okahandja United the bronze medals and N$100,000, while fourth-placed Mighty Gunners FC collected N$50,000.
In the individual awards, UNAM captain Paulus Amutenya was named Player of the Tournament, earning N$15,000, while Owen Gariseb won the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award, earning N$10,000.

The 2026 NFA Cup concluded with thrilling encounters at the Independence Stadium, bringing another memorable chapter to Namibia’s premier domestic cup competition.
