
The body of an 18-year-old girl who drowned in the Zambezi River on Friday evening has been recovered by the Namibian Police.
According to Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali, head of the community policing sub-division in the Zambezi Region, the deceased, identified as Chikwata Lielezo, drowned near the NamWater pump in Katima Mulilo.
Her body was retrieved from the same area on Saturday by police officers and community members assisting in the search.
Authorities have since informed the deceased’s next of kin. Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
