John Cena Officially Retires from Professional Wrestling

WWE legend John Cena has officially stepped away from in-ring competition, bringing an end to one of the most successful careers in professional wrestling history. The 17-time world champion wrestled his final match in December 2025, closing the chapter on more than two decades inside the squared circle.
Cena had earlier announced that 2025 would be his final year as an active wrestler, embarking on a farewell run that allowed fans across the world to see him compete one last time. His retirement match took place at a major WWE event, where he faced reigning world champion Gunther. Cena was defeated by submission, a rare outcome in his career, marking a symbolic passing of the torch to the next generation.
Since making his WWE debut in 2002, Cena became one of the company’s most recognizable figures. He dominated the industry throughout the 2000s and 2010s, headlined numerous WrestleMania events, and held multiple championship titles. Beyond his success in the ring, Cena also became known for his charity work, particularly through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he granted more wishes than any other celebrity.
Although Cena has retired from wrestling matches, he is expected to remain connected to WWE in other capacities, such as special appearances or ambassadorial roles. He continues to enjoy a thriving acting career, appearing in major Hollywood films and television productions.
John Cena’s retirement marks the end of an era in professional wrestling, but his influence on the sport and its global fan base is expected to endure for many years to come.
