Prominent businessman, property developer, and community leader John Savva has passed away. His wife, Mrs. Roulla Savva, confirmed that he died on Friday afternoon due to heart-related complications.
Mr. Savva was a well-known figure in Walvis Bay’s business community, particularly for his role in property development projects such as the Afrodite Beach development. He was also the owner of the Atlantic Hotel, one of the town’s well-established hospitality businesses, and together with his wife, operated several retail ventures.
His influence extended beyond the business world. Mr. Savva was deeply involved in community development and philanthropy. For 25 years, until May 2016, he served as the president of the Walvis Bay branch of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), where he played a key role in promoting local economic growth and supporting small businesses.
He was also known for his charitable spirit, with his family and hotel often hosting social events such as annual Christmas lunches for senior citizens, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community he served.
Mr. Savva is survived by his wife, Roulla Savva, and their family.
The Walvis Bay community has expressed deep sorrow at his passing, remembering him as a visionary leader, generous supporter, and devoted family man.
