FlyNamibia’s recent goodwill gesture toward elderly citizens has sparked mixed reactions among Namibians, with some linking the act to the upcoming national elections scheduled for 26 November.
On Tuesday morning, FlyNamibia treated a group of elderly residents from Katutura to a special flight experience from Eros Airport to Hosea Kutako International Airport. According to Namibia Airports Company (NAC) spokesperson Dan Kamati, the initiative was a 30-minute low-altitude flight over Windhoek, aimed at giving senior citizens—many of whom had never flown before an opportunity to experience air travel.
While the gesture was widely praised as a heartwarming act of appreciation for the elderly, some Namibians on social media expressed skepticism, suggesting the timing might be politically motivated as the country approaches election day.

FlyNamibia, however, clarified that the initiative was not sponsored or influenced by any political party.
With Windhoek expected to be one of the most hotly contested areas—featuring activists such as Michael Amushelelo among the participants—many observers say that mobilization efforts are intensifying across the capital.
Whether seen as a genuine act of kindness or a move interpreted through a political lens, FlyNamibia’s gesture has certainly become a topic of national conversation.
