PRESIDENT NANDI-NDAITWAH RECEIVES WHO DIRECTOR-GENERAL AT STATE HOUSE

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah today received a courtesy visit from Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), at State House.
The President welcomed Dr Tedros to Namibia and expressed her appreciation for his decision to visit the country and participate in the 5th Southern Africa Regional Ministerial Steering Committee (ReSCO) meeting, currently underway in Namibia.
The ReSCO meeting brings together key stakeholders from across the region to strengthen coordination and cooperation on shared health priorities.
During their meeting, President Nandi-Ndaitwah and Dr Tedros exchanged views on Namibia’s health priorities, regional health cooperation and the need for continued collaboration between Namibia, the WHO and other development partners.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of strengthening health systems and improving the provision and delivery of quality healthcare services to communities.
Dr Tedros’s visit comes as Namibia hosts the regional ReSCO meeting, providing an opportunity for countries in Southern Africa and health partners to discuss common challenges and identify areas for stronger regional cooperation in advancing public health.
