The Namibia Football Association (NFA) announced today that the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) will operate independently starting from the 2026/2027 season. This move marks a significant shift in the administration and professional management of Namibia’s premier football competition.
The NFA explained that the decision is intended to enhance league governance, improve financial sustainability, and provide clubs with greater autonomy in decision-making. While the NPFL moves toward independence, the Women’s Super League will continue to be managed under the direct oversight of the NFA.
The congress also emphasized the importance of youth development, requiring all affiliated clubs to establish structured youth programmes. Clubs with existing youth systems will benefit from incentives under FIFA-supported initiatives.
Additionally, the NFA has received a total of 3,800 footballs from CAF and FIFA to support schools and accredited youth football structures across all 121 constituencies, further strengthening grassroots football in Namibia.
