Anne-Marie Nainda Finished Third in INTERPOL Presidential Election

Anne-Marie Nainda comes third in Namibia’s historic bid for the INTERPOL Presidency, following a closely contested election at the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech. Despite not securing the top position, Major General Nainda’s presence and message left a strong impression on the 179 member states in attendance.
After three rounds of voting, France’s Lucas Phillipe was elected as the new President of INTERPOL, with Turkey placing second. Major General Nainda secured third place, while Ethiopia finished last among the candidates.
Throughout the assembly, Nainda delivered a powerful and composed address, emphasising unity, shared responsibility and the need for deeper international collaboration to confront global security challenges. Her leadership and professionalism, backed by 33 years of service, earned Namibia wide recognition and respect on the world stage.
Although the outcome was not in Namibia’s favour, the country remains proud of Nainda’s candidacy, which was formally endorsed by SADC and strongly supported by the President of the Republic of Namibia. The campaign showcased Namibia’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to global policing and security governance.
The Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, together with Major General Nainda and the entire campaign team, extended sincere gratitude to the Namibian people and to all nations that offered their support.
Namibia’s voice in global security remains firm, and its commitment to international cooperation and safety continues undiminished.
