The race for promotion to the North East First Division will begin tomorrow at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex, where five regional champions will compete for the two available spots.


The tournament will bring together the best-performing teams from different regions, with each side aiming to secure a place in the First Division after winning their respective regional leagues.

Hosts Bush Bucks FC from the Zambezi Region will kick off the opening day’s action when they face Gerros Uri-khob FA at 09h00.

The second match will see Rundu Rangers FC take on Members XI FC at 11h00, before Bush Bucks return to action against Young Western Fighters FC at 13h00.

Gerros Uri-khob FA will then face Rundu Rangers FC in the fourth match scheduled for 15h00, while Members XI will conclude the day’s fixtures against Young Western Fighters FC at 17h00.


The participating teams qualified for the playoff after dominating their respective regional leagues. Young Western Fighters FC from Kavango West enter the competition as one of the highest point collectors, having secured their league title with 55 points. They are among the top three regional league champions with the most points, currently behind only Correction 11 FC, while the Hardap Second Division season is still ongoing.

Gerros Uri-khob FA claimed the Oshikoto Regional League title with 49 points, while Members XI won the Ohangwena competition with 41 points. Rundu Rangers FC secured the Kavango East championship after finishing the season with 36 points, and Bush Bucks FC finished first in the Zambezi Second Division with 44 points.


Defensive Strength


Throughout the campaign, Rundu Rangers FC conceded 26 goals, the highest among the five champions. Bush Bucks FC conceded 21 goals, while Members XI FC allowed 23 goals. Gerros Uri-khob FA demonstrated a strong defensive record, conceding only 13 goals, while Young Western Fighters FC boasted the best defensive record after conceding just 12 goals.


Attacking Strength


Young Western Fighters FC also head into the playoffs with the most potent attack, having scored 56 goals during the league campaign. Gerros Uri-khob FA and Bush Bucks FC each scored 42 goals, while Members XI FC netted 40. Rundu Rangers FC scored 31 goals, the lowest tally among the five champions.


With only two promotion places available, all teams are expected to compete at their highest level as they battle for the opportunity to represent the North East First Division. Young Western Fighters FC, in particular, will look to carry their impressive league form into the tournament as they face champions from other regions.
