North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reportedly banned the consumption and sale of Hot dogs, labeling the popular fast food item as a symbol of Western decadence. This move is part of the regime’s intensified efforts to curb what it perceives as the infiltration of capitalist culture into the isolated nation.
The despot, 40, has declared serving hotdogs an act of treason, warning that anyone caught cooking or selling the dish will face severe punishment, including imprisonment in the country’s notorious labor camps.

According to The Sun, the ban has also extended to budae-jjigae, a Korean-American fusion dish that gained popularity in North Korea in recent years. The dish, which includes American ingredients such as Spam, beans, and sausage combined with Korean staples like kimchi and red pepper paste, was initially introduced from South Korea in 2017.

A street vendor in the northern province of Ryanggang told the newspaper, “Sales of budae-jjigae in the market have stopped. The police and market management have issued warnings, stating that anyone caught selling it will face immediate closure.”
The bizarre crackdown reflects Pyongyang’s broader strategy to insulate the population from outside influences, particularly those associated with affluence and Western culture. This move aligns with previous restrictions, including bans on Western clothing, hairstyles, and foreign media consumption.
