Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare on Thursday paid a visit to the family of the late prosecutor Justine Ndapandula Shiweda at their townhouse in Ondangwa, Oshana Region, where he reassured them of the Government’s continued support during their time of grief.

During the visit, the Prime Minister met with Shiweda’s mother and praised the late prosecutor’s sisters for standing by their mother and taking responsibility for caring for Shiweda’s two children following her death.

He also welcomed the establishment of a dedicated fund aimed at supporting the children’s education and overall wellbeing, describing it as an important step in securing their future.

While interacting with the children, Dr. Ngurare affectionately referred to them as “my friends” and encouraged them to remain focused on their education, work hard, and pursue their ambitions in honour of their late mother.

Shiweda, who is widely regarded by many Namibians as a symbol of courage and justice, died on 7 February 2026 from injuries she sustained during a brutal shooting and acid attack on 17 October 2025.

The visit formed part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to stand in solidarity with bereaved families and provide support to vulnerable members of society.
