In a major step towards strengthening Namibia’s healthcare workforce, 52 aspiring health professionals have been awarded scholarships to pursue their undergraduate studies within the country’s health sector.
This initiative forms part of the Ministry of Health and Social Services’ ongoing commitment to invest in the development of critical skills needed in the nation’s healthcare system. The scholarships were awarded following a rigorous selection process where 120 applications were received from various regions across Namibia.
Speaking during the awarding ceremony, Health and Social Services Minister Esperance Luvindao highlighted that the scholarships not only empower students but also serve as a long-term investment in the health and well-being of the nation.
“Health professionals are the foundation of our healthcare system. I urge you to fully dedicate yourselves to your studies, excel in every subject, and remember that every lesson learned will ultimately benefit the lives of fellow Namibians,” she stated.Minister Luvindao further reminded scholarship recipients of their responsibility to maintain active communication with the Ministry by submitting their semester reports and proof of registration on time. She warned against complacency, urging students to take ownership of their academic progress.
This scholarship programme is part of the government’s broader strategy to build a resilient healthcare sector by equipping young Namibians with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle the country’s health challenges.
