An alleged attempt to secure a loan using fraudulent documents has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man in Ongwediva.
Police reported that the suspect was detained on 29 October 2025 after he reportedly tried to obtain a N$20,000 loan at Express Credit, situated at Oshana Mall. The individual, who resides in Ekuku village in Oshakati, allegedly submitted an identification card that did not belong to him, along with a falsified bank statement.
Authorities said the financial institution became suspicious during the verification process, and confirmation from the relevant bank revealed the statement was fake. The suspect was then called back under the pretext of finalizing the loan, where he was taken into custody by the Ongwediva police investigation team.
He is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on 3 November 2025.
Police investigations are ongoing.
