Three people have been arrested in Ondangwa after a fish shop was broken into and 38 boxes of fish, worth around N$13,600, were stolen.
The suspects, Paulus Nangolo (28), Tangi Martin (31), and Selma Megameno Niitembu (37), appeared in Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court following their arrest.
Police say Nangolo and Martin broke into the shop in Onguta, taking boxes of John Dory, Hake, House Mackerel, and Snoek.
A quick police investigation led to the recovery of three boxes. One was found at the Vibe Pub in Okangwena informal settlement after a tip from the public, and the other two were recovered from Niitembu’s home in Extension 14.
Niitembu is also facing an extra charge for obstructing justice, as she reportedly tried to hide one box in a car at her house.
Police are still searching for the remaining stolen fish and investigating whether more people were involved in the theft.
