Nampost has appealed to families of hospitalised or critically ill pensioners to avoid sending their loved ones to collect grants in person, following the tragic death of an elderly beneficiary at the Rundu Post Office earlier this week.
The incident happened on Tuesday when Dominga Musowa, a pension recipient, reportedly collapsed while waiting in line to receive her monthly payment.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of Nampost, Eldorette Harmse, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed condolences to Musowa’s family and the Rundu community.
“We are saddened by this tragedy. We encourage families to notify us when beneficiaries are unable to travel so that our mobile teams can assist them at home,” Harmse said.
She also reminded beneficiaries to adhere to the in-branch payment schedule and to visit branches only on their designated days to prevent long queues and overcrowding.
