Namibia Prohibits Importation of Fried Chicken Products from South Africa

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Land Reform has announced a prohibition on the importation of certain fried chicken products from South Africa into Namibia.
According to an official notice issued to travellers, the restriction applies specifically to fried chicken products from well-known fast-food outlets, including Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Nando’s, and Hungry Lion.
The ministry advised that travellers entering Namibia are not permitted to bring these products across the border and urged the public to comply with the regulation to ensure smooth and safe travel.
Authorities emphasized that the measure falls under veterinary import and export control regulations, which are enforced to safeguard animal and public health.
For further clarification or inquiries regarding the restriction, travellers have been advised to contact the Division of Veterinary Services (DVS) through designated state veterinarians.
The ministry has thanked the public for their cooperation and understanding in adhering to the regulation.
