Ex-Girlfriend’s Lips Slashed With Knife in Early-Morning Attack in Swakopmund

A 32-year-old woman was left with serious facial injuries after her former boyfriend allegedly attacked her with a knife, cutting open her lips during an early-morning incident in Swakopmund.
The attack reportedly took place at around 05:00 on Thursday, 1 January 2026, at the New DRC location. According to police in the Erongo Region, the suspect—an adult Namibian man whose age is still unknown—allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend and assaulted her, inflicting severe injuries to her lips with a knife.
In addition to the assault, the suspect is also accused of damaging the roof of the victim’s ghetto using an unknown object. The damage has been estimated at N$600.
The injured woman was rushed to Swakopmund State Hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment. Her condition has not yet been publicly disclosed.
Police have opened cases of attempted murder and malicious damage to property. The suspect has not been arrested and remains at large, but law enforcement officers say investigations are ongoing and efforts to locate and apprehend him are underway.
