Three Injured After Vehicle Crashes Into Shop at Swakopmund Service Station

Police in the Erongo Region have opened an investigation after a vehicle crashed into a shop at a service station in Swakopmund, injuring three people on Sunday evening.
The accident occurred at about 18h25 on 18 January 2026 at the Namcor Service Station in Ocean View, where a silver Volkswagen Golf drove into the front window of the Model Shop.
At the time of the incident, two employees were inside the shop and were injured when the vehicle struck the building. The driver, a 41-year-old Namibian woman, was the only occupant of the car and also sustained injuries. The collision caused damage to the vehicle as well as the shop’s glass windows.
All three injured persons were taken to Swakopmund State Hospital for medical treatment. Police said the driver and one shop employee, aged 39, were treated and are in stable condition. The second employee, a 32-year-old man, suffered more serious injuries and remains admitted in a serious but stable condition.
Police further confirmed that the driver was tested for alcohol following the crash and returned a negative result. Investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
