Tragic Road Accident Claims Life Between Otavi and Otjiwarongo

Otavi, Namibia – A devastating road accident occurred on Sunday evening when a vehicle carrying 11 occupants overturned between Otavi and Otjiwarongo, resulting in the death of a minor child.
Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the Otjozondjupa police regional spokesperson and head of the community policing sub-division, confirmed the incident. The accident took place approximately 35 kilometers from Otavi at around 17:15.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle, which was reportedly traveling from Outapi towards Windhoek, suffered a right rear tire burst. This caused the driver to lose control, leading the vehicle to overturn.
The vehicle was occupied by eight adults and three children. Tragically, one male minor child was declared dead at the scene. The remaining injured occupants were rushed to Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have yet to confirm the ages of the victims, and the next of kin are still to be notified.
Police investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
