GROOTFONTEIN – The police in Otjozondjupa are investigating a disturbing case after a human head was found at the Grootfontein railway station on Monday afternoon.
Two young boys came across the head around 15h45 while walking from their location to town. It was wrapped in a black plastic bag and left in an open space.
Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha confirmed the incident, saying the head appeared fresh, meaning the victim was likely killed recently. “The eyes and tongue were still intact. The head has been taken to the Grootfontein State Mortuary for further examination. At this point, we do not know if the victim was male or female,” she said.
Police are asking the public, especially those in Grootfontein and nearby areas, to report if they have a missing family member. So far, no missing person reports have been made in the area this year.
The investigation is ongoing.
