Namibian sprinter Christine Mboma has once again found herself in the spotlight, but this time not just for her athletic journey. A local pastor, Apostle Kondja Shadufah, recently took to social media, urging those close to Mboma to inform her that she needs spiritual intervention to regain her past form.

In his message, Apostle Shadufah claimed that unseen forces were hindering Mboma’s success:

“PRAY FOR MBOMA‼️ In the realm of the spirit, her enemy cast a spell on her not to reign again. She needs serious deliverance, I need to see her. Those close to her pass this message to her. She needs to seek urgent prayers, God is faithful. #Our very own Namibian champ”

Christine Mboma made history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, winning a silver medal in the 200m and becoming Namibia’s first female Olympic medalist. However, her career faced a major setback due to World Athletics regulations affecting athletes with Differences in Sexual Development (DSD). These rules required Mboma to reduce her natural testosterone levels to continue competing in certain events, forcing her to make difficult adjustments.

After undergoing hormone treatment to comply with the regulations, Mboma faced a challenging comeback to competition. Her return to the track in 2024 was far from smooth. She struggled in her first major races, finishing well below her previous best times. At an event in Kenya, she clocked 12.32 seconds in the 100m, a significant drop from her personal best of 10.97 seconds. She also failed to qualify in both the 100m and 200m semifinals at the African Championships, raising concerns about how the changes in her body were affecting her performance.

Despite these setbacks, her coach, Henk Botha, remains optimistic. He has assured fans that they are continuously adapting her training to help her regain her strength and speed.

Looking ahead, Mboma is set to kick off her 2025 season by competing in the Botswana International Grand Prix and the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya. These races will serve as crucial tests in her efforts to regain competitive form and prove that she can still compete at the highest level.

Namibians and athletics supporters worldwide continue to rally behind her, hoping to see her rise once again on the international stage.
