N$116,000 Raised to Support Miss World Namibia Elly Aron’s Vietnam Journey

Namibia’s preparations for the upcoming Miss World pageant received a major boost after N$116,000 was pledged during Miss World Namibia Elly Aron’s send-off gala dinner held in Eenhana.
The fundraising event also attracted a notable contribution from former Ohangwena Governor Usko Nghaamwa, who donated one head of cattle in support of Aron’s campaign ahead of the international competition in Vietnam next month.
Addressing guests at the event, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare Emma Kantema said backing Aron is an investment in the country’s youth and national pride. She stressed that when Namibia sends a representative to the global stage, the entire nation is being represented.
Kantema noted that participating in the Miss World competition requires significant financial resources, as the Namibian representative is expected to spend more than a month in Vietnam. She explained that the overall budget exceeds N$300,000 to cover airfare, accommodation, local transport and other essential costs.
She further encouraged continued support from the public and stakeholders to ensure Namibia is well represented throughout the international pageant.
Aron is scheduled to leave for Vietnam in August as she prepares to compete against contestants from around the world at the prestigious Miss World competition.
