Students at I-Care Health Training Institute have accused the institution of implementing financial and academic policies they say are preventing some learners from sitting for supplementary examinations and progressing with their studies.Several students, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that they are required to settle all outstanding tuition fees before they are allowed to write examinations or access their academic results.

One third-year student said the policy leaves affected students unable to register for supplementary examinations because they cannot determine which modules they have failed.”If we can’t access our results, we don’t know which subjects we need to supplement. That means we end up repeating modules we might have passed through supplementary examinations,” the student alleged.

Students also questioned the institution’s academic requirements for supplementary examinations, claiming that only those who obtain at least 45% in a failed module qualify to rewrite.”We are not allowed to write supplementary examinations if our mark is below 45%. We believe that requirement is unfair because it denies some students a second opportunity to improve their results,” another student said.

The students further alleged that the institution charges N$350 for each failed module to register for a supplementary examination, despite students already paying full tuition fees.

They are calling on the institution to review what they describe as restrictive academic and financial policies, arguing that these requirements create barriers for students seeking to complete their studies and improve their academic performance.

I-Care Health Training Institute has been contacted for comment on the allegations.
