Born on 13 August 1984 in Otavi, Nekurua comes from a Kavango and Oshiwambo family background. He grew up in Otjiwarongo, where his passion for football developed before he moved to Katima Mulilo in 2003 after completing his secondary education.

His playing journey began with Katima Wounderiors FC, before joining Bush Bucks FC for a short spell. In 2007, he returned to Otjiwarongo, where he continued his football career with BMC FC in the Second Division. During the same year, he was given an opportunity to play for Life Fighters FC in the First Division, contributing to the club’s journey back to the Premier League.

In 2009, Nekurua travelled to Zambia to join Kabwe Warriors FC for a player assessment programme. After a successful period in Zambia, he returned to Namibia, where he moved into coaching and football development, working with clubs such as BNC and African Lions in Otjiwarongo.

Beyond traditional coaching, Nekurua is now focusing on the mental and administrative side of football. Through his studies in neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and create new ways of thinking, he aims to support players and coaches who face mental pressure, burnout, and challenges affecting their performance.

“Many players and coaches, especially in Namibia’s lower divisions, struggle with mental health challenges and physical exhaustion. Through my studies in neuroplasticity, I want to help them understand how they can rewire their mindset, improve confidence, and perform better,” Nekurua said.

His services include player scouting, football talent identification, sports administration guidance, and mental performance support for players and coaches.

With years of experience as a player, coach, and football learner, Nekurua believes that developing footballers requires more than technical ability — it also requires the right mindset and proper guidance.
